About Yuile Street Studio

Having a dedicated studio space has been life changing for Lucy. It has allowed her to create Yuile Street Studio — a business committed to providing simple, elegant cards, each of which is a unique artwork.

The opposite of fast fashion and $1 disposable cards, Lucy uses beautiful, thick 100% recycled cardstock and envelopes, handprinted with finest artists’ linoprint inks to create artworks that can be retained and treasured.

Lucy’s direct drive press, with its solid steel side frames, thick walled rollers and ground steel bed was custom made by Melbourne Etching Supplies.

About Lucy Watts

Lucy is happiest at Yuile Street Studio: dreaming of new designs, up to her elbows in printing ink, or rolling a print through her etching press.

Nothing quite beats the thrill of peeling back the paper to discover the unique print created by rolling the inked lino through the press.

Lucy has completed training at both the Firestation Print Studio and the Australian Print Workshop. Her art practice is informed by taking note of the natural world . From flowers and leaves which catch her eye on a daily dog walk, arranging flower cuttings from her own garden to spotting eye catching native plants when bushwalking, Lucy is always ready to snap a photo for future inspiration. These ideas are later developed — depending on the subject matter — into a simple lino cut or complex multi-coloured lino print or, if the subject is right, an expansive acrylic painting.
