Gum Blossom (Cornflower Blue)
A limited edition lino print (one of only ten) in three colours depicting branches of a flowering gum in a long stemmed glass bottle. I often return to the gum blossom as a lino subject as it consists not of petals, but of stamens attached to a cap, which give it a striking graphic quality.
The white image of the bottle and branches, which has been carved from the lino, is set in contrast to the dark blue of the bottle, the yellow ochre table and the cornflower blue background.
Each colour is applied to the lino by me and then handprinted by running it through an etching press multiple times to achieve the correct colour combination. Each artwork is printed on Fabriano Artistico, 100% cotton paper, 200 GSM, which is mould made, hot pressed (grana satinata) and is chlorine and acid free and archival quality.
The paper is A3 size and the print itself is 36cm by 24.5cm. Each print is signed and editioned and is part of a limited edition print run of 10 prints. Each print is an original, not a reproduction, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The print is packed against backing board (100% post consumer waste recycled fibre, FSC certified and acid free) and wrapped in a 40 micron polypropylene (premium film) sealed bag. However, the print will be removed from bag and posted rolled between pieces of acid free Glassine Paper in a mailing tube for best protection.
